lya drives his truck jam-packed with rusty scrap metal through the night town beyond the Arctic Circle, where the windows of five-story houses are rarely lit up. Back in his flat, he composes poems for his beloved, admires Stalin’s tyranny and prepares for his move to Moscow to escape from the tormenting memories of how his father mercilessly beat him as a child. But, inculcated from an early age, his cruelty and total dislike of people become an obstacle on his way to a new life.
