Don’t miss you chance to join this promo game set in a northern environment and become inspired by its cultural heritage, sense of pride, love, and people-to-people links. This IT quest is a great opportunity for people of all ages to try on the role of a filmmaker and rediscover themselves, their lives and homeland while making their own films. This is your chance to contribute to the 7th International Film Festival ARCTIC OPEN, which features independent films, as an amateur filmmaker – screenwriter, actor, director, cameraman and editor – and have your film open the ARCTIC OPEN IFF and maybe land the Audience Award.
WE WELCOME
Everyone aged 12 years and over. Just make sure your mobile phone has video recording/filming function.
OUR IT QUEST
contains five tasks where you will act as a screenwriter, actor, director, cameraman and editor. Once you have completed all of them, you will be asked to shoot a video and submit it to our category “Your Film”.
The submissions will be moderated by the system operator. You can submit your film also to the judgement of the audience. Anyone can join the audience jury. The shortlist will be compiled using a chat bot, which will offer each audience jury member two films to choose from, and, based on the choices stored in the database, the IT-film quest will be able to identify the Audience Jury Choice.
PROGRAM
Our IT Film Quest will unfold as a role-playing game and training sessions with tasks relating to the land of Pomors, its culture, heritage, multinational and multi-confessional environment, unique artisanal trades and occupations. It will contain 4 to 5 thematic sections, designed to teach the skills of a screenwriter, cameraman, film director, actor, and editor.
There will be a simple test at the end of each section – acting test called “I am a northerner”; “Two Pomors Talking White Nights” mini-dialogue writing test; “North: A spiritual place” camerawork test; and “Happiness is within arm’s reach” editor skills test.
Participants’ individual images (participant’s certificate, film quest diary) will be generated through server-side image processing.
Those who will manage to complete the quest will end up with 5 one-minute videos and receive the ARCTIC OPEN IFF participant’s certificate. The best videos will compete in category “Your movie. People of the North” and be posted on our website and social network pages.

Each audience jury member’s choice will be stored in the database, enabling us to use the judgements from multiple members for compiling an objective shortlist of the IT Film Quest.
